This policy covers Daily Seal: Chinese Widget for iOS, published by Sang Cao.

The short version

Daily Seal collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server we run, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDK of any kind in the app. The words, their meanings and example sentences are built into the app, so it never downloads content either. What you do in the app stays on your iPhone.

What stays on your device

  • Your progress: which words have appeared on the widget, which you marked as known or saved, and your answers in quick review.
  • Your settings: HSK levels, meaning language, app language, simplified or traditional characters, what the widget shows, how often it changes word, notifications and quiet hours, the Chinese voice, and appearance.

These are stored in a space on the device shared by the app and its widgets, so the widgets can show the words you chose. Daily Seal does not sync through iCloud or anywhere else, so nothing leaves the phone.

Features that run on your iPhone

  • Pronunciation uses the Chinese voice installed in iOS. Nothing is sent anywhere to produce it.
  • Notifications are local, scheduled on the device. The app asks for permission to send them only if you choose to get at least one a day, or ask to be reminded before a free trial ends, and never otherwise. It is the only permission Daily Seal asks for.
  • Share on a word card passes the word, its pinyin and its meaning as text to the iOS share sheet. It goes only where you send it.

Purchases

If you subscribe, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, Apple ID or payment details; the app only asks iOS whether the subscription is active.

When you write to us

If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply and to fix what you reported.

Deleting your data

  • Settings → Reset progress in the app deletes your progress and keeps your settings.
  • Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Children

Daily Seal is not directed at children, and collects nothing from anyone.

Changes

If the app’s behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
