Marble Privacy Policy
This policy covers Marble: Stoic Quotes Widget for iOS, published by Sang Cao.
The short version
Marble collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server we run, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDK of any kind in the app. The passages and the paintings are built into the app, so it never downloads content either. What you do in the app stays on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud account if you use one.
What stays on your device
- Your collection: the numbered piece you get on each day you open the app.
- Your saved passages.
- Your settings: theme, background and the paintings you chose, how often the widget changes passage, the language of the passages, the author filter, and the reminder and its time.
These are stored in a space on the device shared by the app and its widgets, so the widgets can show the passage and the look you chose.
Your iCloud account
If you are signed in to iCloud, Marble keeps your collection, saved passages and settings in sync between your devices through Apple’s iCloud — the app’s private CloudKit database and iCloud key-value storage, both held in your iCloud account. We cannot read that data; Apple’s privacy policy applies to it.
If you are not signed in, or you turn iCloud off for Marble in the iOS Settings app, the app works exactly the same and simply does not sync.
Features that run on your iPhone
- The daily reminder is a local notification, scheduled on the device. The app asks for permission to send notifications only when you turn the reminder on, and never otherwise.
- Shared images of a passage are drawn on the device and go only where you send them from the share sheet. If you choose Save Image there, iOS asks once for permission to add photos to your library. That permission lets the app add images, not see the photos you already have, and it is the only other permission the app asks for.
- Rating requests are shown by iOS itself, at most a few times a year, and Apple decides whether they appear. Marble does not learn whether or how you rated it.
When you write to us
Report a wrong passage in Settings opens a draft in your own mail app. It is addressed to us and already contains the passage’s ID and source, its language and translation, the day number and the app version, so the report can be checked without asking you again. Nothing is sent unless you send it.
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply and to fix what you reported.
Deleting your data
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device.
- What is in iCloud can be removed through iCloud storage management in the iOS Settings app.
- A saved passage can be unsaved at any time with the Save button.
Children
Marble is not directed at children, and collects nothing from anyone.
Changes
If the app’s behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
