VocabPeek Junior Privacy Policy
This policy covers VocabPeek Junior for iPhone and iPad, published by Sang Cao. The app is made for young children, so this page is written for the parent who sets it up.
The short version
VocabPeek Junior collects nothing. There is no account to create, no server we run, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDK of any kind in the app. The words, pictures and sounds are built into the app, so it never downloads content either, and the app makes no network connections of its own. Your child cannot chat with anyone, buy anything or leave the app through a link: the only links in the app sit behind a parent check.
What stays on your device
- Child profiles you create: a first name or nickname of your choosing, a picture, a colour, a pace setting and, only if you add it, the month and year of birth. Use a nickname if you prefer; none of it is ever sent to us. The birth month, if you add it, is only kept in the profile: the app does not use it for anything today.
- Your child’s progress: which words were shown, which picture was tapped, whether it was right, and when.
- Your settings: app language, meaning language, voice, topics switched on or off.
These are kept in a space on the device shared by the app and its Home Screen widget, so the widget can show the next word and record a tap. Nothing is uploaded to us.
Your iCloud account
If you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps child profiles, progress and settings in sync between your own iPhone and iPad through Apple’s iCloud (the app’s private CloudKit database), held in your iCloud account. We cannot read that data; Apple’s privacy policy applies to it.
If you are not signed in, or you turn iCloud off for VocabPeek Junior in the iOS Settings app, the app works exactly the same and simply does not sync.
Features that run on your device
- Words are spoken with the voice built into iOS. Nothing is sent anywhere to produce it.
- Sounds and pictures are part of the app.
- The weekly note for a parent is written on the device from the progress log with fixed sentences. No AI service is involved.
The app asks for no permissions: no camera, no microphone, no photos, no location, no contacts, and no notifications.
Children
VocabPeek Junior is designed for children aged 2 to 5 and placed in the Kids category. It does not collect personal information from anyone, children included, and shows no ads. Settings, progress and external links are behind a parent check that a young child cannot pass.
Deleting your data
- Deleting a child profile in the parent area deletes that child’s progress on this device and, through iCloud, on your other devices.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on the device. What is in iCloud can be removed through iCloud storage management in the iOS Settings app.
When you write to us
If you email us, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them only to reply and to fix what you reported.
Changes
If the app’s behaviour changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
