How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, search for VocabPeek Junior and choose the medium or large size. On iPad, the large and extra-large sizes give the biggest pictures. The app shows the same steps with pictures when you first open it, and again in the parent area.
The word does not speak when my child taps a picture
Check that the ringer is not on silent and the volume is up: the words are spoken by the device. If the widget still stays silent, open the app once and try again, then remove the widget and add it back. iOS decides exactly when a widget redraws, so a change can take a moment to appear.
How does it choose the words?
Each round is three words. A new word is introduced by first asking for it among pictures; a miss shows the word and the picture together and asks again. Words your child got right come back after a few hours, a day, three days and so on, so they are remembered rather than just seen. Words are added in easy-first order, a few at a time, from the topics that are switched on.
Can I turn topics off, or change the pace?
Yes. Open the parent area (it asks a small question a young child cannot answer), choose your child, and switch topics on or off or change the pace.
Can I have more than one child?
Yes. Each child has their own profile and progress. The widget shows who is playing and lets your child pick their picture.
What is the parent check?
Settings, progress, links and profile changes sit behind a short question, so a young child cannot wander into them.
Does my child’s progress move to a new device?
Yes, if both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account with iCloud turned on for VocabPeek Junior. Profiles, progress and settings sync. Without iCloud the app works fully but keeps everything on the one device. A change can take from a few seconds to a few minutes to appear.
Which languages does it support?
The app can be shown in English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese. The words your child learns are English; the meaning shown to the parent can be in any of those languages. Choose both in the parent area.
What does it store about my child?
The profile you create and the taps, on the device and in your own iCloud. No account, no server, no analytics, no ads. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 18 or later.
