How do I add the widget?
Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, tap Customize, choose the Lock Screen, tap the area below the clock, and pick VocabPeek.
Home Screen: touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen, tap Edit then Add Widget, search for VocabPeek, and choose a size. The medium and large sizes have the buttons; the review widget is a separate one in the same list.
The app shows the same steps with pictures under How to add the widget on its first tab.
Why doesn’t the word change when I unlock my phone?
iOS does not tell a widget when the phone is picked up or unlocked, so no iPhone widget can react to it. VocabPeek changes the word on the schedule you choose — every 30 minutes up to every six hours — and not during your quiet hours. Tapping Next or Known on a Home Screen widget changes it straight away.
The widget is blank or stuck on an old word
Open the app once: that refreshes the widget’s schedule. If it is still stuck, remove the widget and add it again. iOS decides exactly when a widget redraws, so a change can take a moment to appear.
Where is the Known button on the Lock Screen?
The Lock Screen widget shows the word only. Tap it and the word’s card opens in the app, where you can mark it known. The buttons are on the medium and large Home Screen widgets.
I marked a word known by mistake
Open the Words tab, go to Known, swipe the word to the left and tap Learn again.
A meaning or translation is wrong
Open the word’s card, tap the ⋯ menu, then Report a wrong meaning. It opens an email that already says which word it is about; add a line on what is wrong and send it. Corrections arrive with app updates.
Can I learn with meanings in my own language?
Vietnamese, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Korean are available today, or English only. Pick one under Settings → Meaning language. The app itself can be shown in any of those languages too, under Settings → App language, independently of the meanings.
Does my progress move to a new iPhone?
Yes, if both devices are signed in to the same iCloud account with iCloud turned on for VocabPeek. Progress, lists, your own words and settings sync. Without iCloud the app works fully but keeps everything on the one device.
How do I start over?
Settings → Reset progress clears known, saved and review history on every device that syncs through your iCloud. Settings → Retake the level test sets your level again without touching your progress.
Why does it sound robotic?
Pronunciation uses the English voice installed on your iPhone. Choose American or British English under Settings → Voice. Better-quality voices can be downloaded in the iOS Settings app, under Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.
What does it store about me?
Your progress, lists and settings, on the phone and in your own iCloud. No account, no server, no analytics. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Which iPhones does it run on?
iOS 18 or later. iPhone only.
