Psylo is a privacy browser for iPhone and iPad from Mysk, the security researchers. Its idea is the silo: every tab is an isolated browsing environment with its own storage and its own IP address. If you are looking at Psylo, you probably want one of two things — privacy from tracking, or several separate identities online. The best alternative depends on which.
What Psylo does
According to Psylo’s own website, checked in September 2026:
- Every tab is a silo, with its own cookies, cache, local storage and IP address, so nothing is shared between silos.
- Proxy locations: silos connect through the Mysk Private Proxy Network, with more than 40 locations, and each tab can use a different one.
- Your own proxies: you can configure SOCKS5 or HTTP/HTTPS proxies and assign them to individual silos.
- Anti-fingerprinting: it matches timezone, locale and user agent to the proxy’s location, and blocks or randomises several fingerprinting techniques.
- Pricing: there is no free tier — the app needs a subscription. In the US App Store it is $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with a 3-day trial on the monthly plan and 7 days on the annual one, and 200 GB of proxy bandwidth a month.
It is built for privacy first, and it goes further in that direction than most browsers on iPhone.
Two different needs
Privacy from tracking. You want sites and trackers unable to connect your browsing. Isolated storage, a different IP per tab and anti-fingerprinting are exactly that job.
Multiple identities you use every day. You want to stay signed in to a work account, a personal account and a client’s account on the same services, switch between them quickly, and keep what goes with each — notes, screenshots — in the right place. A proxy per tab is often more than this needs, and named, persistent profiles tend to be more convenient than tabs.
Psylo alternatives for iPhone
Safari profiles — free and built in
Since iOS 17, each Safari profile keeps its own cookies, history, Tab Groups and favourites, so you stay signed in as a different person in each. There is no lock, no proxy and no anti-fingerprinting, and nothing outside Safari is separated. What Safari profiles actually separate covers the limits.
VanBrowser — Personas
VanBrowser is a privacy-focused browser for iPhone, iPad and Mac. According to its website, each Persona gets its own isolated cookie jar and a consistent spoofed device fingerprint, and Personas can switch with Focus modes. It is free, with a Pro upgrade that adds iCloud sync.
SideSpace — Spaces for everyday identities
SideSpace is the app I built, aimed at the second need:
- Named Spaces — Work, Personal, a client — each with its own web sessions, so the same service stays signed in as a different person in each.
- Pinned web apps that open straight to each service, and a browser with its own tabs and history.
- Notes, photos and videos in each Space, kept out of your Photos library.
- A proxy per Space, SOCKS5 or HTTP, that you bring — SideSpace runs no proxy network.
- Private Spaces with SideSpace Premium, unlisted until unlocked with Face ID or a passcode.
What it does not try to be is an anti-fingerprinting privacy browser. If hiding your browsing from trackers is the point, Psylo is built for that and SideSpace is not.

The gap in price is not arbitrary. Psylo carries a real cost per subscriber — it runs a proxy network and gives you 200 GB a month through it. Safari profiles, VanBrowser Personas and SideSpace Spaces all run on your own connection, so they can be free or cheap. If you want an IP address per identity without paying for a proxy network, you supply the proxy yourself.
Short answers
How much does Psylo cost? In the US App Store, $7.99 a month or $69.99 a year, with no free tier and a trial on each plan.
Is there a free Psylo alternative? Safari profiles are free and built in, VanBrowser is free with a paid Pro tier, and SideSpace is free with two Spaces.
What is a good Psylo alternative for iPhone? For privacy, few browsers go as far. For several everyday identities, Safari profiles, VanBrowser Personas or SideSpace Spaces.
Does Safari isolate tabs like Psylo? Safari profiles isolate cookies per profile, not per tab, and they do not change your IP address.
Can I use my own proxy per profile on iPhone? In Psylo, per silo, and in SideSpace, per Space. iOS’s own proxy settings apply to a whole network.
